Recapping Bostonian Adventures: Part Two

Last I left you was at Union Oyster Bar.

Where I held a lobster; I was freaked out from holding the little guy and shrieking a bit.

This is Janet Echelman’s Twine Sculpture. It's definitely a different kind of art.  

We gazed over at the Boston Tea Party Museum and the replica ship. This was the location of the tea party many many years ago. I took Advanced Placement European and American history in high school. I spent countless hours in my textbooks reading about so much of Boston and the different historical moments. The Boston Tea Party was one of those that never left my memory so being here in person was such a surreal experience. Amazing to finally experience and be exactly where all of the early colonial events occurred several hundred years ago.

We hopped on the "T" and made our way to Harvard University. The campus was quite beautiful, but truthfully I don't think I would have cared to go to school here (not that I ever would have been accepted) because there are years when students must live on campus. The rundown element of the living situation would be a huge turn-off for me and make me quite uncomfortable. I know it's authentic, but I would rather have a normal situation (a.k.a. an apartment) and my own privacy. 

I had to put this picture on here because Snapchat has their own tag for Harvard. I sent this picture to my mom telling her I was finally accepted. I thought I was soooo funny. 

That night we had drinks at Russell House Tavern and dinner at Beat Brasserie. This was my dinner choice of steak. It's funny that when I post pictures of the food, you all love the food more than anything else. Goes to show that we are all stuck on food ;)

I ended the night by stopping at a local shop and grabbing those infamous macarons. Too bad my pictures didn't come out as picturesque as those gorgeous ones on Instagram..There's always next time. 

The next day, we had a few meetings then headed out for more exploration. The Skywalk, as you can imagine, has a gorgeous view of the entire city. 

For lunch, we went to Joe's American Bar and Grill. We sat right by the window (it was too windy to actually sit outside) and the view was lovely.

The chef wanted to show us how wonderful the restaurant was so we were brought out custom appetizers. This enormous, marvelous meat and cheese plate.

And these incredibly cooked and seasoned oysters. Now if you've been around these parts for a while, you know I am not a seafood type of gal. Sure I like shrimp and salmon but those two are minor seafood plates in comparison to mussels, oysters, clams, lobster and so forth. I was hesitant yet again but these were such good oyster. These also had spinach and cheese mixed with the oyster which made it so incredibly delicious.

After the appetizers came, we were all joking saying "can we cancel our entrees?" because there was so much food on our table. I had chicken picatta as my main dish and you can imagine how little I ate after having too many oysters and cheese. 

Most of the group ordered fish and chips which is so delicious when it's ordered in a destination close to the sea. Fresh fried fish is yummy and I was drooling over their plates.

Now there were also crab cakes around the table. This I didn't dive into, but the verdict was that it was absolutely scrumptious. I believe them, but I am not brave enough to try that quite yet.

After lunch, we waited a little while before getting on a boat. A speed boat to be exact named Codzilla.  This was such a funny, great ride and we were all just laughing hysterically. You know when your endorphins mix with exhilaration and you're on cloud 9? Then someone does something not even remotely funny and you laugh for about 20 minutes uncontrollably? This happened to our group. It was such a giddy hilarious time. My entire face hurt as we got off, from laughing and the wind that was whipping my face as we sped through the Boston Harbor. It was incredible.

We checked out Boston's own 'Little Italy' which is also referred to as the North Side. In this part of town, there's a lot of Italian restaurants and bakeries. I decided to try a macaron because when in Rome, right? I'm not a filling lover but the filling here was pretty damn good!

There's even a hidden alleyway that's home to a bread baking shop as well as an authentic Italian shop. You just have to know where to go!

Quite possibly, one of the most amazing experiences of the Boston trip was seeing these lights which by the way make me want to sing "take me out to the ballgame!"

We ended the evening in a local ice cream shop which was quite the topper. I was enjoying myself, as you can probably tell, regardless of how tired I was. What a trip. Thank you Boston!
