Real Techniques Bold Metals Brush Collection

I know I'm late to the game, but I'm finally reviewing the new Bold Metals Collection from Real Techniques.

Now let's get the negatives out of the way first off with the 301 flat contour brush.  This was not my favorite at all. I used it twice and didn't like the way the brush applied a significant amount of product to one area and then didn't help blend the contour shade in the hollows of my cheeks. This brush is not pictured here because it was an addition after my main haul of these five brushes.

The 101 triangle foundation brush is my least favorite brush of all time. It feels like a moth or other bug was slipping and sliding all over my face. It's a sloppy application and the finish is streaky and far from flawless. I actually found this brush despicable. If you've had a different experience, let me know because I could be using the brush incorrectly.

The 202 angled liner brush is fantastic. This is the brush I raved about in my favorites just a few months ago. It applies gel liner very well and makes it easy to apply liner regularly, which is amazing since liner can be the biggest pain in the ass.

Now the 201 pointed crease brush is perfect for the crease and building in the shade. It's a thin brush so you can really blend, blend blend!

Quite possibly my absolute favorite is the 200 oval shadow brush. This brush is all you need for a perfect eye look. You can use this brush for everything. The lid, the crease and all of your blending needs. It's an all-in-one brush!

The 100 arched powder brush is the perfect size for applying a no-shine powder or setting everything on the face with your favorite powder. It sweeps the powder evenly so you don't over apply that powder and look like a caked on doll.

Lastly the 300 tapered blush brush is also one of my favorites. I love using this for blush (go figure;) At first, I didn't use this brush properly and was frustrated with it because it packed the product and made me over-apply the blush to one specific area. What is best is if you gently dab the brush in the product, and then gently move the brush up and down the apples of your cheeks. This brush is also not pictured because it was purchased post my main haul.

Which of these brushes has been your favorite so far? Have you tried any Real Techniques brushes?

  20. I think the triangle brush looks a little funny, no wonder why you didn't like it. If I could get one of these, I'd pick the Oval Shadow brush or the Tapered Blush brush, or both! :)
