Annick Goutal's Vacanze in Italia

As a little girl, I always loved the beauty of Annick Goutal perfumes.  The packaging was so beautiful, and the scents divine. There was something so unique and intriguing about the perfumes, which attracted me to Annick even before I became a true wearer of perfume.

The inspiration for Annick's newest collection came from Camille Goutal (Annick's daughter.) Cecile shares two of Annick's passions: Italy and music. Cécile has infinite admiration for her homeland: the beauty, architecture, colors, scents and art, are all inspirational to her and this is how the new limited edition collection called Vacanze in Italia, came about.

Italy was close to Annick Goutal's heart, so this collection in celebration of the country is fitting for the Annick line.  The iconic bottle is beautiful and recognizable as Annick Goutal. The beautiful soft tones are well chosen, yellow for Eau d’Hadrien with a bright citrus symphony. It's a true citrus that I think is perfect for the summer and early fall months because it signifies summer and warm weather to me. The soft blue is for Eau du Sud which is representative of the summer sky at the seaside, while the green is for Ninfeo Mio, signifying a walk through an Italian garden.

These beauties retail for $149 each, which is comparable to most  full size bottles of perfume or cologne. Since perfume is something we use and keep throughout our lives, I never mind spending the money to have a beautiful perfume in my collection. I wanted to give you a bit more detail about each one, so let's jump in.

Eau du Sud
When I sprayed this on my hand, I had an immediate sensation of fresh citrus perfume spiked with a bit of Verbena, going through my nose. It reminds me of warm summer nights and it's definitely a long-lasting scent that sticks throughout the day. There's evident hints of basil, lime and mandarin.

Eau D'Hadrien
The inspiration for this perfume is found in the Tuscany landscape where Annick's love for Italy arose. This scent, composed of fresh citrus fruits, Sicilian lemon, citron, grapefruit and green mandarin has woody notes of Cypress. This one struck me as the most unisex, because it will certainly appeal to both males and females.

Ninfeo Mio
This last one has a combination of Sicilian Lemon, citron, bitter orange, fig and lemon wood mingle for a fresh and powerful fragrance. The goal of the vibrant accord of citrus fruits, figs and wood bark is to give a reminiscent memory of a stroll through an Italian garden. I would say this is the most invigorating of the three.

If you like citrus and scents driven by nature, this is the collection for you. Even if these don't sound like they'd be up your alley, I suggest a spritz because while it's different, it will be appealing to many whether you like woody scents, citrus scents or even something a bit sweeter. Because it is limited edition, make sure to give this collection a peek before it's off the selves in a few weeks!
