Traveling to Berlin: Part 2

Arriving to Hotel Otto was such a treat. Since we were on the fifth floor, it was such an incredible view of the neighborhood. There were quite a few things I loved about the hotel. The buffet breakfast was second to none, the customer service excellent and I loved that there was delicious glass bottled water provided to all guests. Coming from Tucson, we are serious water drinkers so this is a key whether we're in a hot or cold climate. P.S. Make sure to press that enticing button in the elevator.

Knowing me, I had to do a spot of shopping. I thought shopping in the Berlin Burberry store would be an experience. Unfortunately the service was not up to par and I was treated like chopped liver upon arrival. After about twenty minutes, one of the associates finally walked to me and I just listed beauty products I wanted so she got them together quickly because I wanted to get out of there. Needless to say, I was not impressed with the service but if you'd like to read my review of these products, you can do so here.

Walking through the streets was gorgeous because several shops had gorgeous flowers. That night we decided to try Dicke Wirtin for dinner. It was an experience and the waiter tried to teach us some German. I can't even remember what words he was trying to teach us (bad memory already kicking in people!)

Having the delicious buffet breakfast with such a gorgeous view was awesome. Even though it was cloudy and overcast during most of our stay, it was still so nice and relaxing.

We were able to get out to the Berlin Zoo. I've been to zoos before, but I think because this was a zoo in a different country I was much more attentive. The sea otters were the cutest.

Pasta and Basta was an incredible Italian restaurant, directly across the street from Hotel Otto. Everything was delicious. The bruschetta was incredible, pasta scrumptious and the white wine perfect for the occasion. I remember feeling happy and sad at this exact moment because I didn't want to leave Berlin...ever. It was just pure bliss.

Afternoon coffee and dessert is a thing so we decided to embrace it because let's be honest, we love afternoon coffee no matter where we are.

We went on a mission the next day to find German IPA beer because most of the restaurants served Pilsners, which really are not good beers. It's like pee water if you ask me. We made our way to the Berlin Bier and Wine Shop, which was awesome. Excellent customer service and such an incredible and vast selection of beer.

We had authentic German sausages that evening at a restaurant called Marjellchen, which was very highly rated on Trip Advisor. After a few bites, I started to feel kind of sick. Probably because I never eat sausage, but it was delicious nonetheless.

The next day we visited the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and it was such an authentic experience. I loved walking through, even for just a few minutes.

We had to go back to Pasta and Basta, which is the only restaurant we visited for a second time throughout our entire European adventure. That's definitely saying something!

Because Kiko Milani makeup is near impossible to get my hands on here in Arizona, I went a little crazy in the Berlin store. I swatched everything and picked up a few of my favorite pieces.

Berlin Welcome Pass is a transportation card that gets you on any of the local transportation. Highly recommend.

We set off to visit the Reichstag building, this time with a reservation to get all the way to the top. This was one of the coolest parts of the trip without a doubt, I loved being so high up in such a historic building. It was so official even walking in. Security was tight and you had to go through the metal detection (similiar to security at an airport) so it felt like we were really a part of something awesome.

My aunt told me about a Bosnian restaurant in Berlin so the Mr and I went quite a ways to find it. We had to walk for a bit, before we hopped on the S then off it to get on another train. Quite a route, but it was such an experience to be able to get everywhere without a car. That is one thing I really love about Europe. Public transportation is awesome. The Sarajevo Inn Grunewald was a lovely establishment and our waiter spoke Bosnian so we had a great time!
