The Pressure in my Life
I'll admit I am a stressed out individual and lots of things make me anxious. Lots of things.
There's social pressure, especially nowadays with social media, to own certain things and try the latest and greatest launches first. Because if you don't test out products first, then "you're just behind the curve." There's a lot of pressure to be a certain kind of person too. You're "supposed" to do this and you're not "supposed" to do that.
The professional pressure is through the roof. There's so much at stake and if I want to make money, I need to provide the best customer service, while selling, while answering calls, while answering long convoluted emails, while attempting to train a colleague, while having internal meetings with coworkers, while attempting to have client meetings. Basically, there's nothing my position at work doesn't do. Keep in mind I have a day time job and do the social media (blog, YouTube, etc.) as a second job. Sometimes working with brands for my blog is stressful too. Brands thinking we can afford to buy their products AND review them for free. Are they crazy? As one of my friends said on Twitter "that would be like your 9-5 job telling you you have to pay them to work there." What a ridiculous concept so brands definitely get stressful when they expect things for nothing or when they never reply to emails.
Now the pressure I put on myself is insane. All I have to say is at least I recognize it. I am a hard worker and I don't submit things half assed. If you read my post about self confident and self love here, you know that it's important to be kind to yourself and do the right things for you. In my mind, I need to be working full time professionally then maintaining a blog, a YouTube channel, an Instagram, a Twitter, a Facebook page, a Pinterest account, Bloglovin, Snapchat...when does it end? What's ironic about all of this is I own a shirt that says 'Bloggers Day Off' and there is no such thing. We work day in and day out because a blogger's work is never done. Sure you got a post up, but now you need to pimp it out over social media. It's all about being in the moment, announcing the latest trends.
All of these pressures are bit overwhelming and truly exhausting so some days I find I need to get outside and go for a hike, in order to brush the anxiety away. Most of the time, this helps because it's so peaceful and quiet out in the wilderness. In these photos, I was hiking through the Malaga Cove area in Palos Verdes, California.
Over the past few months, I told you about my love for the newest Secret® Outlast Xtend™ deodorant. Especially for when things get crazy during travel or life gets hectic and there's just no time to reapply or worry about stank. Now keep in mind, I've been using Secret for years and I know what you're thinking right now. This girl just got all deep and personal about her life pressures and now she's throwing some sponsored shiz at me? Stay with me here. With all of the anxiety and daily pressures I have going on in my life, everything I've said about this deodorant is perfect for me and my body chemistry. This gives me that 48 hour odor protection that keeps me fresh all day. Additionally, there's something a lot of people don't know about deodorant. Deodorant should be applied at night BEFORE going to bed. Your body needs time (overnight) to absorb the deodorant and then your armpits will cooperate the next day. If you apply it in the morning, you will sweat it off right away.
How do you deal with the pressures of life?
