We arrived quite late in the evening on Saturday and started our adventures Sunday morning after getting some rest. Based on the travel brochures we skimmed through, we wanted to visit one of the Newport Mansions. Rosecliff Mansion was our pick, and we hoped to find lots of roses. We received a proper tour of the inside and learned all about the history of the mansion. Sadly, no photography was allowed inside so we didn't get any pictures of the inside so we made up for it by taking all the angles outside.
Since we did have such a late night, we needed some serious coffee so we went to Empire Coffee and Tea. I remembered visiting this coffee shop on my first trip to Newport this year, so we revisited and it was just as good (if not better) this time around.
After some coffee, we drove down to see all the mansions and followed the signs to Ocean Drive. Ten miles of beautiful scenery and we stopped several times for photo opps and fresh air.
Towards the end of Ocean Drive, we ended up close to Fort Adams State Park so we stopped to take a bit of a walk. We got some sailing and boating action in sight, which to us seemed crazy, because we were freezing with the wind and the cold chill in the air!
After all that excitement, we needed some food so we reached into our bag to find some gift certificates for The Barking Crab - a restaurant originally from Boston. We had some strawberry jalapeno margaritas, which were surprisingly not super spicy but well balanced, and ordered some lunch.
