Drugstore vs. High End - Dry Shampoo

My hair is difficult to gauge. It gets greasy quickly, but my scalp is incredibly dry so I have consistent problems with greasiness and dandruff. Sexy I know.
Regardless of the grease, I simply cannot wash my hair every day. Ain't nobody got time for that and the dryness would be in freakin' sane! I've mentioned this before, but washing your hair every day is no good. I would recommend every other day or if you can make it, every two days but I really don't know how the European beauty girls go 3+ days without washing. That is mind-boggling to me. Anyway, I wanted to battle out two of the most prominent hair brands' dry shampoos. Living Proof versus Batiste. Let's do this!

I would label Living Proof as a high end brand, so makes sense that a 4 oz container retails for $22 and 1.8 oz for $12. The scent is pleasant - not too strong or nonexistent. It's got that recognizable Living proof scent so it's on par with the rest of the Perfect Hair Day line. The dry shampoo is sulfate free, oil free and silicone free. Sulfate is a killer because it dries out the hair and strips it of its essential oils. Sulfate would really ruin me, especially with how sensitive my hair is so it's important to find dry shampoos (and obviously shampoos) without sulfate. Being the crazy beauty lover I am, I also love to read reviews on multiple sites. On Ulta's website, this product has a 4.5 rating out of 12 reviews. On Living Proof's website, the rating is 4.8 out of 11 reviews. On Sephora's site, out of the 6 reviews the rating looks to be a 5. While none of these sites have 100+ reviews, the reviews are all fairly positive so in this case I would take the positivity to heart because across three different sites, Living Proof could not have influenced all of the positive reviews. The product is clearly just great. It's important to check multiple sites and sources before purchasing a product so keep that in mind the next time you want to try something new. The most prominent and positive characteristic of this dry shampoo is that the white residue is an absolute minimum in comparison to other dry shampoos. It can easily be brushed away with one or two quick strokes. I would give it a 4.5 out of 5.

Batiste is a drugstore product, and therefore 6.73 oz retails for $7.99. Now this to me is the dry shampoo I have literally heard about over and over again through all of the marketing Batiste has done. Since this is the original dry shampoo, the scent is fresh and clean. What's interesting about Batiste is that while it is sulfate free, they don't market themselves as sulfate free. I like that about the brand - not flaunting all of their good selling points.  On Batiste's website, this product gets 4.6 out of 327 reviews. On Ulta's website, this gets a 4.5 out of 1,534 reviews. Not only is that an insane amount of reviews, but the quality of the reviews are astounding. Lastly, where I really feel this one is not up to par is in terms of the white residue. Even when I spray far away from my hair, the white residue comes out and it's much tougher to rub into the scalp. I would give it a 4 out of 5. That obviously means Living Proof is my winner!
