Normally I just fly through Salt Lake on the way to somewhere else, but this was my first real trip to Utah. You know how I do this. We land, we get the rental, drive to where we are staying...and then find the closest burger joint and eat our burger and fries post flight. It's the only way to do it!
Unfortunately for me, I was almost late meeting the guys downstairs because my Makeup Forever HD foundation exploded in my makeup bag and got everywhere. It's actually even seeped out of makeup bag and landed on some clothing that was around my makeup bag in the suitcase. Definitely a fail moment for me and my foundation.
The first evening I tried to stay off my phone (last Wednesday) but Thursday morning I was at it taking pictures and doing some exploration of Ogden.
Everyone who arrived in Ogden before we did told us we had to try Tona, a local sushi place. We were a little skeptical because being avid travelers you know where and when you eat certain types of food. Seafood is freshest when it's by the coast, so in Utah we were thinking how far is this fish traveling in order to be on our plates? It's not coming from a nearby ocean, so needless to say we were very hesitant. Luckily, it was all for naught because the recommendations were legit and we loved our experience at Tona. So much so that we went there for dinner on Wednesday evening and then for lunch on Thursday too! Absolutely delicious sushi, edamame, and this beautiful green ball of avocado and crab. If I could virtually lick my fingers for you, I would. Talking about all of this is making my mouth water right about now...and you know me, I love my food ;)
We had a few strolls down historical 25th, where you can find restaurants, shops and a few great bars for those who enjoy a bit of nightlife- or day drinking!
On Thursday evening, we had a closing reception for a few hours then everyone headed to the Alleged Rooftop Bar which was located down the street. Luckily, we got to the roof just as the sun was setting and what a beautiful sight that was.
On Friday morning, I don't think any of us were feeling particularly chipper and happy to be awake so early so donuts definitely helped make the morning a little better. Fun fact: I actually walked around the conference with these boxes and forced people to eat donuts. If any of you get type two diabetes, I had nothing to do with my forceful peer pressuring. These donuts were from a lovely local shop called Beyond Glaze. I had about half of mine before I felt like I would either go into shock or pass out on the conference table and take a nap..but seriously. Delicious, but deadly!
Have you ever been to Ogden? Have you been to Utah? I'd love to hear your thoughts and where in Utah I should visit next!
