Eating Like a Foodie in D.C. and Delaware

While there were no pictures taken of monuments or attractions, there are lots of pictures of food.

The evening we arrived, we stopped at the City Tap House. My boss and I chatted about the ambience and feel of the restaurant. We enjoyed the rustic look and feel and chatted about how we would utilize similar decorations in our houses.

We started with Korean short rib tacos which were absolutely scrumptious. Luckily I got to snag a bit more of these since there was so much other food on the table.

We also tried a honey goat cheese flatbread which was just delicious. I'm a big fan of goat cheese and the creaminess of the cheese, along with the honey, was just a perfect decadent combination. 

Quite possibly my favorite appetizer on a consistent basis, fried pickles. They were crispy perfection and so juicy. My mouth is just watering thinking about these now.

Now, each day for breakfast we strolled to a nearby Starbucks for our much needed coffees (we both had trouble sleeping throughout this trip so we needed serious caffeination.) 

Every morning, I used my Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow to do my makeup on my bed which was really nice and relaxing. Thanks for tweeting me and commenting on this Instagram picture Grand Hyatt DC!

Now our first client meeting was on Tuesday and we met for lunch at Proof. This was such a lovely restaurant and we had great company. We started off with Prosciutto San Daniele. I had a few bites and enjoyed it, but I have to be honest and tell you that I am not a big ham eater.

Our other appetizer was surprisingly so delicious, I couldn't keep my hands off it. The Ahi Tuna Tartare was impeccable. This is surprising because I am not a big fish eater, let alone raw fish eater.

As my lunch entree, I ordered a Grilled Flat Iron Steak Salad which I asked to be cooked medium. The chef recommends medium rare, but I can't get too pink-crazy. This is the perfect level for me and I thoroughly enjoyed this. The steak, avocado, cheese and dressing were just so beautifully combined.

Now for those of you who follow me on Instagram, you have seen my picture of this dessert. Dessert is my favorite part of meals. I love dessert and there is just no denying that. This is their cookie plate. We also got a 32 oz. Gayla Moore Rooster French Press to share between us. The coffee and cookies were lovely. I couldn't decide which of the desserts was my favorite.

Now dinner on Tuesday was shown all over my snapchat (username is: Adaleta) because it was a foundation dinner. I only wanted to (literally) snap quick pictures of everything and not get too crazy with so many clients and colleagues around. Sometimes there's just not enough time to photograph everything (sad days I know.) 

Anyway, when we made it to Delaware on Wednesday we had lunch at Harry's Seafood Grill with another client. This was also not a meal I could photograph due to the business nature of the meeting. After lunch, we headed to the Cristiana Mall where I bought quite a few things (check tomorrow's video for specific purchases ;) but we also got some Crumbs cupcakes. 

How good do they look?

Our dinner was at Domaine Hudson in downtown Wilmington. I honestly couldn't tell you which cheeses these were specifically, but they were all delicious.

There was another appetizer given to us per the chef, but I couldn't tell you anything besides it was sausage of some kind. I had a bite of each piece and it was okay. Like I said, ham just isn't my thing. Bacon is though. Bacon is totally my thing. 

For my main entree, I ordered a grilled New York strip steak. This came with roasted eggplant puree (surprisingly I enjoyed it), cashew cilantro pesto, kohlrabi and balsamic soy-reduction. It was just lovely all together and the steak (medium of course) was so juicy and easy to cut through and honestly, my mouth was watering even as I ate. Food with this kind of presentation should be publicized heavily because honestly...just look at this!
