Protecting Your Skin This Summer

As we are approaching the toastier months of the year (it's already in the 90s in Arizona) it's important to be conscientious of the sun and how you're protecting your skin.

I am one of the guilty, who used to sunbathe and let my skin turn to a crisp weeks in a row during the summer time. I'd lay out in Manhattan Beach, toasting with my family or friends, hoping to get the sun to bronze me like a goddess. When I went to college, I had a skin test where I was placed in a dark room and a UV detection light was shone on me. My face was black indicating I had extreme sun damage and if I didn't change my ways, I would have a world of trouble ahead of me. At 19, I was utterly terrified to be told to "change my ways." 

Now that I've moved from California to Arizona for the long haul, the sun is even more an issue because the heat gets unbearable during certain times of the year.
