Some places make you feel alive, completely invincible as you stand on top of the world. Norefjell was this for me. There was something so magical and serene about the beauty of it all. I still can't find the words to describe it.
On my recent trip to Norway, we explored Oslo first and then had an evening up in the mountains of Norefjell. Norefjell is located about 90 minutes outside of Oslo so it's a quick car ride out of the city.
I can't pretend to be a skiing and winter activities expert, but I do know a thing or two about Norefjell now so thought I'd help you out in case you're planning a trip to the mountains near Oslo. I highly recommend booking your mountain stay at one of the few rooms at NorfjellHyatta. We had a peek around one of the rooms and they are quite nice and cozy. Perfect for a couple. The ambience is romantic, calm and the views are absolutely intoxicating. If you're not too keen on a romantic stay, there are plenty of privately owned cabins that can be rented out each day.
Make sure to take photos of the incredible views from every single angle. It's important you catch the mountain in every possible light ;)
The Norwegian mountains are no joke. I have never been colder in my life than when we got on the ski lift. Make sure to wear warm clothing.
My last piece of advice is drink hot drinks. Hot toddys, hot coffees, hot teas, hot errythang!
Rings from Mejuri, Jacket from Sweaty Betty |
After the initial sightseeing, we started our mountain adventure with one of the best meals we'd all ever had in our lives. Local food served at its finest. We went to NorefjellHyatta for lunch and it was truly spectacular. The experience was authentic, the owner sincere and the food scrumptious and better than most things I've ever eaten.

Waking up the next morning was magical. At first, I couldn't remember where I was but when I did I was so excited and blown away by the beautiful view outside.
I'll admit my Michael Kors jet set purse helped me carry everything in an organized manner. The inside zipper kept my laptop and iPad safe from keys and any other things floating in my purse. Somehow you got lucky as this purse is now $140 from the $268. Go, go, go!

We went skiing the next day and this was the first time I've ever skied in my life. It's interesting how you fall in love with elements of a destination you never thought you would. Everyone expects to instantly love the beach, but the mountains and snow are a bit different. They're more of an acquired taste and this trip really opened my eyes to the beauty of winter, the beauty of snow and the serenity of it all. I understand the appeal of skiing, snowboarding and going to winter destinations. It makes so much more sense after experiencing the beauty of Norefjell.
My ski jacket was the ultimate saving grace. It's from Sweaty Betty and they do such a great job with all active wear. This jacket is now 50% off so it's a complete steal and if you live in the Los Angeles area, there is a new store on Montana Avenue. I'm going to LA next week and I will be checking out the store in person! The coolest thing about the jacket was the zipper on the left arm which was perfectly made to put my ski lift scan card in an accessible spot so I could just swipe my hand against the scanner without taking out the card. It's all in the details darling.
